![]() OK, I`ve googled around, I`ve searched this Forum, I found millions of references, but all of them saying very complicated stuff, generally meaning full back-up`s from the QNAP to somewhere else through the Internet, or vice-versa, etc all too complicated and far from what I really need. In the router, I added the port 873 to the forwarding list (saw this on a guide somewhere). 2) I`ve clicked the option “Allow Rsync…” 3) I`ve seen that the option “enable SSH” was checked by default with the port 22 filled in. There`s a message in red saying something like “only the admin can login remotely”…….I suspect this is my problem (?). I clicked on the link “Click here to set the NFS access right of the network share” and typed in the IP address of my wife`s computer (I`ve deleted the wildcard symbol !). In the TS-419P, I`ve done the following: 1) Enabled NFS, I have to admit that I don`t know what NFS means, but as there`s the penguim symbol beside it, I believe I need to enable it. As I am at my home and wired, I don`t really need SSH, but if I have to use it, it`d be OK, I`ve tried this code too: rsync -r –e ssh -delete /media/Dados/Marcia/ 192.168.1.100:/public/ with no luck as well. but Ubuntu`s terminal tells me that: “192.168.1.100 closed the connection”, and gives me some errors codes. I`ve tried this code: rsync -r -delete /media/Dados/Marcia/ 192.168.1.100:/Andrea/ to copy the Marcia folder from the Ubuntu computer to the Andrea folder in the QNAP. I`ve tried Rsync + Cron the latest is OK, I`ve figured out how to properly write a script and schedule it, but my problem now lies on Rsync. Now I need to back-up automatically some folders from her HDD to the QNAP, please note that I am at home in a wired network, and I need to back-up from the Client to the server, just this. I have Samba installed and properly configured on it, the Ubuntu client sees and accesses the folders that I want at the TS-419P through samba, this is not a problem. Although with a very limited knowledge, I`ve been running Ubuntu for a while in my wife`s computer, it`s OK for her purposes (browsing, e-mail, Skype, office) and virus free, so it`s a good choice. However, due to the need of a common LARGE hard drive to my home network (3 Computers, mine, my wife`s and my laptop, lots of videos!), I bought a TS-419P. I am an amateur user, not a network professional at all, so I have very limited knowledge.
